|Info||Born on June 21, 1966 in Union City, Indiana, Ruben K. Zamora is the fourth youngest of a Mexican-American, migrant family of 11 children. While he was growing up, Ruben's family sacrificed to make education a priority, and he graduated with honors from Cypress Lake High School in Ft. Myers, Florida. |
In 1984, Ruben attended North Central College (Naperville, Illinois) where he participated in track and cross country. He graduated in 1989 with a B.A. in business management. In 2004, Ruben earned his M.A. in education for Aurora University. Ruben has over 10 years of food service management, manufacturing, and retail experience. After 8 years in the East Aurora School District, Ruben is a teacher at Head Start..
Ruben enjoys computer games and is a diehard Cubs fan. He is also a fierce competitor who ran marathons and road races. He has coached youth soccer, high school track, 7th grade girls basketball, 5th grade softball, and Ruben also initiated the middle school cross country program for the east side of Aurora. Ruben is a member of the United Methodist Church where he has assisted with Vacation Bible School, taught adult and children Bible studies, and acted as character player. Ruben recently finished his student teaching requirement at O'Donnell Elementary School where he was an assistant coach for the softball team. Ruben also participates in other community activities such as the Christmas in April program, which helps seniors maintain their homes.
Ruben and his wife, Nadia, have been married 18 years and have two teenage sons, ages 17 and 14. They live in Aurora, Illinois.
