| Info | I’m running for Town Council because I want to continue and broaden the impact I’ve had on protecting Sparta’s charming rural character and ensuring sensible development. As co-founder and former President of Sparta Responsible Development and as co-counsel in the legal effort to stop the Sparta mega-warehouse, I realize that Sparta needs someone with legal experience to help it navigate through the complicated development and budgetary issues it faces. As a former Commissioner for the Sussex County Board of Elections, I learned how people from different political perspectives can work cordially and cooperatively on polarizing issues like election integrity and I hope to bring that professionalism to Sparta Town Council.
For nearly 25 years, I’ve litigated complex class action cases primarily against the pharmaceutical industry. These cases require massive amounts of preparation and the ability to quickly steep yourself in unfamiliar subjects so you can challenge the other side’s experts and professionals. These cases have recovered billions of dollars on behalf of pharmaceutical purchasers who were harmed by anticompetitive business practices. I’ve used this experience to challenge the mega-warehouse developer’s experts and professionals and will continue to apply these skills as a Sparta Town Councilperson.
Like most men who find themselves in unique places, I came to Sparta because of a beautiful and talented woman, my wife Alexandra Miller. Alexandra is a long-time Sparta resident and the founder and Clinical Director of Live Well Psychology in Sparta. Between us we have 8 children, 7 girls and one boy.
Before getting immersed in local issues, I trained seriously for running and swimming races and was fortunate enough to make two World Master Aquathlon (race combining swimming and running) Championships and won two Masters National Track & Field championships in the 4 x 800 meter relay. Today, I try in vain to win tennis matches against my wife.
