Because of many factors, including a $10 billion budget shortfall, this session was one of the most trying in recent memory. However, I am overjoyed with the efforts the state made towards many issues, including major medical malpractice and insurance tort reform, while still showing the resolve to solve state budget issues without increasing the tax burden on citizens in East Texas.
Representative Christian sponsored legislation accomplishing the following: stabilizing the largest source of funding for our school districts while ending dramatic fluctuations of their tax base; allowing Stephen F. Austin State University to renovate their University Student Center; and saving equity for all public schools.
Representative Christian was born in Center, Texas and was raised in Tenaha. In 1973, he graduated from Stephen F. They have three daughters, Liza, 19, Lindsey 17, and Lauren, 13 years old. Rep. Christian is owner of an investment company, and registered representative of Sun America Securities, Inc. of Center.
