|Info||John Walsh grew up in the Denver area and has been practicing law since 1986. After graduating from Stanford Law School in 1986 in the top 10% of his class, he worked for a federal judge for a year, and then served as a federal prosecutor for nearly eight years in Los Angeles. Since 1995, he has been in the private practice of law as a partner in the Denver law firms Holland & Hart LLC, and currently, Hill & Robbins, PC. |
Johnís experience as a prosecutor has been extensive, and his legal experience overall has been intense and varied. As a federal prosecutor, he prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases, including narcotics cases, assault, smuggling and environmental cases, and a wide variety of white-collar criminal cases, including bank fraud, stock and pension fraud. From 1993 to 1995, Mr. Walsh was Chief of the Major Frauds Section of U.S. Attorneys Office in Los Angeles, and supervised some 35 criminal prosecutors handling many high-profile fraud cases during the savings and loan scandal. During the early 1990s, he also served as chair of the Southern California Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force. In addition to leading many securities fraud prosecutions, he was a member of the team that investigated and prosecuted Charles Keating and other officers and directors of Lincoln Savings and Loan. He headed the criminal investigation of Gov. J.F. Symington of Arizona from its beginning until 1995, when he returned to his hometown of Denver and joined Holland & Hart.
Since returning to Denver, John has specialized in the litigation and trial of complex civil cases, and the successful management of complex white-collar criminal and other regulatory matters. In that capacity, he has gained considerable insight into the criminal prosecution process from the defense perspective, insight invaluable to a prosecutor.
From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Walsh served as an on-air legal consultant to CBS Network News regarding the Oklahoma City Bombing Trials, and made dozens of appearances on national news broadcasts, including appearances on Face the Nation, the CBS Evening News, the CBS Morning News, and other CBS-affiliated programs.
