InfoMitch Morrissey has worked for the Denver District Attorney's office since 1983. For the past thirteen years, he has served as Chief Deputy District Attorney. In 2001, Morrissey was named Colorado's "Prosecutor of the Year" and received the "Award for Prosecution Excellence", presented annually by the Colorado District Attorneys Council. In 2002, Morrissey was sworn in as a Special Assistant United States Attorney to assist in the prosecution of federal cases involving DNA evidence.

Both Mitch and his wife, Maggie Cannon Morrissey, were born in Denver and have two children. Mitch is proud to have attended Colorado schools: the University of Denver College of Law, University of Colorado, Boulder, J. K. Mullen High School and Bear Creek.

As one of the lead prosecutors in the District Attorney's office, Morrissey is an expert in presenting DNA evidence in court. He prosecuted the first case in Denver to use DNA. He is regularly invited to travel around the country to help other prosecutors understand the importance of the technology and how to use it to exonerate the innocent and convict the guilty. He regularly lectures at the University of Colorado and Metropolitan State College on issues concerning violent crime in Colorado and forensic DNA and has been a guest speaker at the University of Denver Law School on the use of demonstrative evidence in the courtroom. Morrissey also has been an instructor on DNA issues at the National Conference of District Attorneys.
