InfoMike Colle was elected for his third term to represent the Eglinton-Lawrence riding in October 2003. He served as Minister of Citizenship and Immigration from June 2005 to July 2007.

Prior to that he served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Finance where he directed Automobile Insurance Reform and the consultation for a new Mortgage Brokers Act.

Mike was appointed Chair of the Justice Policy Legislative Committee that brought forth Bill 138, the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and was a member of the MPP Advisory Committee to regulate and recognize Traditional Chinese Medicine.

When first elected in 1995 as an MPP, Mike served as Liberal critic for Transportation, Consumer and Business Services, Municipal Affairs and for the Greater Toronto Area. While in Opposition, he successfully initiated legislation to preserve the Oak Ridges Moraine, end Mandatory Retirement and to install Red-Light Cameras. Locally, he spearheaded a campaign to save the Eglinton Theatre, to reform the Ontario Municipal Board and led efforts to erect a bronze statue of Al Waxman in the Kensington Market.

Prior to being elected as an MPP, Mike was a Councilor in the City of York and Metropolitan Toronto Councillor and Chair of the Toronto Transit Commission.

Mike immigrated to Toronto as a child from Italy. He is a life-long resident of Toronto, where he taught high school History and Civics at St. Michael's College School.

A proud member of the Fairbank Royal Canadian Legion Branch 75 and the Forest Hill Lion's Club, Mike also volunteers with Ride for Sight and the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

Mike, his wife, Sharon, and their four children live in North Toronto where he continues his life long passion for jogging with three marathons to his credit and a P.B.T. of 3:29.
