InfoCam Jackson was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in 1985, and has been re-elected by the people of Burlington in the last six elections.

Cam's 19 years' experience as an MPP and the tenacity he has demonstrated, both in government and opposition, led Opposition Leader Ernie Eves to appoint him as Energy Critic in November, 2003 and then Community and Social Services Critic in February, 2004. Cam is currently Chair of the Legislature's Standing Committee on Estimates.

When the Progressive Conservative Party formed the government in 1995, Cam was immediately appointed to Cabinet as Minister Responsible for Workers' Compensation Reform. Throughout his eight-year tenure in Cabinet, Cam served as Minister Responsible for Seniors, Canadas first Minister of Long Term Care, Minister of Tourism, Minister of Citizenship with Responsibility for Seniors and, most recently, Minister of Tourism and Recreation.

Cam's passion for seniors and his social roots are demonstrated through a number of his accomplishments while in Cabinet, including the creation of a Seniors Secretariat, Canada's first Alzheimer's Strategy, development of Ontario's Community Care Access Centres, securing 20,000 long-term care beds for seniors, developing Canada's first strategy to combat elder abuse, achieving a record 7% growth in Ontario tourism and creating and implementing the Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2002 - Canada's most comprehensive disabilities legislation.

During his tenure in Cabinet, Cam also served on a number of committees, including Health and Social Services, Statutory Business, Economic Resource Policy and the Cabinet Committee on Privatization and SuperBuild.

Prior to 1995, Cam served in opposition as critic for Community and Social Services, Education, Women's Issues, Energy and Health.

Throughout his political career, Cam has demonstrated his long-standing commitment to the needs of people and his community. His tireless advocacy for victims of crime and their families resulted in the government's passage of Ontario's first Victim's Bill of Rights.

Cam's contributions extend beyond his professional career to several community and charity endeavours. A former trustee of the Halton Public School Board for ten years, Cam is the founding chair of the Burlington Food Share and the Halton Housing Authority. He is an active member of the Burlington Association for the Intellectually Handicapped, Big Brothers and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60. Cam also serves as Fundraising Chair of the Burlington Breast Cancer Support Services Serenity Garden Initiative.

Cam and his wife Elaine have been married 21 years and have three children, Amy, Lauren and Michelle.
