Info | Community service has always been a main priority for Dave Levac, who was first elected to the Provincial Legislature in 1999 and re-elected in 2003.
In his first term, he served as the Public Safety & Security Critic as well as the South Central Liberal Caucus Chair. Dave now serves as the Chief Government Whip and the Chair of the Cabinet Committee on Education Policy.
Prior to politics, Dave was coordinator for the Queen's visit to Brantford, Chair and founder of Brantford's Walk of Fame, Vice-Chair of the United Way Campaign and founder and Vice-Chair of the Walter Gretzky C.N.I.B. Celebrity Golf Tournament.
In 1998, Dave founded and chaired the Friends of the Firefighters Committee, which raised over $100,000 for the purchase of thermal imaging cameras for the Brantford Fire Department and over $50,000 in 2001 for the same cause.
In addition to being named Citizen of the Year by the Expositor in 1997, Dave received the Canada 125 Medal in 1993 and an Ontario Service Award in 1998. Some of the other organizations Dave has been involved with include The Heart & Stroke Foundation, Knights of Columbus, C.Y.O., Bids for Kids, Circle of Friends, Parkinson's Association and Riverfest.
Dave has had an exceptional career in education. After teaching elementary and secondary school for 12 years, he became a principal in 1989. As principal, Dave developed Peace Park and conflict resolution programs, which resulted in Brant OECTA honouring him with the Distinguished Teacher Award in 1994.
Dave is a life-long resident of the riding of Brant, where he lives with his wife, Rosemarie, and their three children.
