Info | Born in Cork, Ireland, Linda Jeffrey has been an active member of the Brampton community since moving to Heart Lake in 1983.
Linda was first elected municipally in 1991, and served four successful terms on Brampton City Council serving the residents of Ward 2.
On October 2nd 2003 Linda was elected Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding of Brampton Centre.
Since being elected Linda has tirelessly championed additional investments in both healthcare services and facilities in Brampton. Shortly after arriving at Queen’s Park Linda spoke personally to the Minister of Health and the Premier about Brampton’s desperate need for a new hospital. In October 2004, construction crews and cranes arrived at the Bovaird DriveBramalea Road site. The new Brampton Civic Hospital is scheduled to open this fall. As well, Linda has strongly advocated for the redevelopment of the Peel Memorial Hospital site on Lynch Street.
On October 4, 2005 Minister Smitherman came to Brampton to announce a $90 million investment for the future planning and development of the PeelMemorial Hospital. and Highway 410 was a project which had stalled, tied up in bureaucratic red tape, with no visible activity on the proposed extension north of Bovaird Drive. Upon arriving at Queen’s Park Linda worked closely with the Ministry of Transportation to expedite this project and today, the results are clearly visible. The extension between Bovaird Drive and Mayfield Road is finally progressing. The remaining parcels of land have been acquired which will allow the final portion of the highway to be completed between Mayfield Road to Highway 10.
Linda sits as a member of two Standing Committees. Previously, Linda served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children and Youth Services; she currently serves as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for Democratic Renewal and to the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Linda and her husband John have three grown sons and a golden retriever.
