Info | Raised in the what is now the 78th District, Shirley Horton is the former Mayor of Chula Vista, the San Diego area?s second largest city. Active in the community, she has been a member of the Scripps Memorial Hospital Community Advisory Board, the Chamber of Commerce, and the South Bay Family YMCA. Further, she is dedicated to raising funds to assist families of domestic violence. Concentrating on issues such as traffic congestion, joblessness, taxes, public safety and the environment, Shirley now works hard in the Legislature to make sure these issues are addressed.
Working tirelessly in Sacramento, Shirley is a member of the Higher Education Committee; the Jobs, Economic Development, and Economy Committee; the Labor and Employment Committee; and the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee. In addition, using her previous experience as a business owner she is the Vice-Chair of the Business and Professions Committee.
Raised in Paradise Hills, Assemblywoman Shirley Horton is a graduate of Bonita Vista High School and San Diego State University. After receiving her Bachelor?s degree, she started her own business and ran it successfully.
