InfoVice Chairwoman Pam Slater-Price brings a deep commitment for family, education, public safety, sustainable growth business practices, and environmental awareness to San Diego County. Her number one priority is ensuring and protecting the quality of life for the region's citizens.

Her common-sense approach to government has earned her the respect and admiration of her peers and constituents and has made her a force in regional politics. She began her public service career in the late-1980s in Encinitas where she served as councilwoman and mayor. She was first elected to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in 1992 and was reelected to her third term in 2000.

Vice Chairwoman Slater-Price has established a reputation as an advocate for open space preservation, economic growth, increased transportation funding, animal welfare, and the promotion of arts and culture. She has also been the County’s leading supporter of domestic violence programs and initiatives. Pam’s vision and leadership helped establish a domestic violence prevention center in the north county. Partnering with the Sheriff, District Attorney, and local non-profit organizations, the county was awarded a $522,323 grant to make this center available to victims. The center will be located within the Sheriff’s jurisdiction and will be a multi-agency, multi-service facility that will centralize and coordinate services to prevent and treat family violence. It will focus on reaching out to victims who do not traditionally access services due to cultural, language and/or transportation barriers.

Vice Chairwoman Slater-Price has worked diligently to reduce the size, cost and burden of government. Despite continuing concerns related to the State budget deficit and its effects upon local governments, Vice Chairwoman Slater has voted to promote eco-tourism efforts, cut the county bureaucracy, helped to develop a balanced budget, and an A+ bond rating. Recognizing the County’s outstanding fiscal discipline, the San Diego County Taxpayers Association has honored the county with the prestigious “Golden Watchdog” award and was recognized by Governing Magazine as one of the top four fiscally responsible, well-managed large counties in the United States.

Vice Chairwoman Slater-Price has continually tackled the tough issues by finding pro-active, lasting solutions to the challenges facing San Diego County and its diverse population.

Vice Chairwoman Slater-Price’s Third District encompasses the coastal communities of Pacific Beach and La Jolla to Encinitas, and inland from Carmel Valley to Rancho Bernardo, Tierrasanta to Escondido.
