InfoA native San Diegan whose roots run three-generations deep, Dianne Jacob was elected to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in 1992 and was re-elected in 1996 and 2000. The San Diego State University alumna is proud to represent the more than 556,000 constituents living in the Second Supervisorial District, the largest of the five districts which covers more than 2,000 square miles in San Diego's East County.

Since taking office, Dianne has earned a reputation as a fighter - fighting for fundamental changes to make County government more accountable to taxpayers - the people who pay the bills. At a recent community event, Dianne was introduced as, "... a woman who has the guts to do the right thing, even though it's not the popular thing."

Supervisor Jacob has been honored with six Legislator of the Year Awards from the Narcotics Association, the Border Solution Task Force, the Industrial Environmental Association, the San Diego Merchants Association, the San Diego Domestic Violence Council and the Building Owners and Managers Association.

She is a recipient of the Women Who Mean Business Award from the San Diego Business Journal and was named Alumna of the Year for San Diego State University, College of Education. She is a San Diego County School Board Hall of Fame inductee and a recipient of the Ninth District P.T.A. Honorary Service Award.

Forum Publications named her Most Accessible Politician and she received the Award of Excellence by the Endangered Habitats League. For her efforts to expose corruption and bring about a leadership overhaul at the San Diego/Imperial Counties chapter of the American Red Cross, she was interview by CBS News correspondent Mike Wallace on television's 60 Minutes, and was listed among the San Diego Press Club's distinguished "Headliners of the Year" for 2002.

Prior to her election to the Board of Supervisors, Dianne worked as a teacher in the East County, and was a member of the Jamul/Dulzura School Board for 17 years. She was active in the California School Boards Association and served as its President in 1987. She is a long-time supporter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) and is a member of the M.A.D.D. Advisory Board.
