Returned to Allegany County in 1882 and engaged in the mercantile business with his brothers Daniel F. and John P. McMullen under the name of McMullen Brothers & Company at Mount Savage and subsequently at Frostburg and Eckhart. Established with his two brothers the first department store in Cumberland, 1896.
