InfoOn April 14, 1998, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors appointed Mark J. Saladino to the office of Treasurer. Pursuant to the County Charter and County Code he also serves as Tax Collector and Public Administrator.

As Treasurer he is responsible for receiving, investing and disbursing funds of the County, as well as more than 110 school, college and special districts. As Tax Collector he is responsible for billing and collecting property taxes, business regulatory fees, and a variety of debts owed to the County. As Public Administrator he administers the estates of County residents who die without known heirs, and his office provides trust accounting and property management services for mentally disabled persons who are under the conservatorship of the Public Guardian.

By virtue of his office, Mr. Saladino is a member of numerous boards and committees. These include service as a Trustee on the Board of Retirement and the Board of Investments of the Los Angeles County Employees' Retirement Association (LACERA), which oversees pensions for more than 100,000 current and former County employees. In addition, he is a member of each of the four committees that administer the County's deferred compensation (defined contribution) plans, and he is Chairman of the County's Treasury Oversight Committee.

Mr. Saladino currently serves as President-Elect of the California Association of County Treasurers and Tax Collectors (CACTTC), and from 2001-2004 he served as Vice-Chairman of the CACTTC Legislative Committee.

From 1990 to 1998, Mr. Saladino was an attorney in the office of the Los Angeles County Counsel, handling finance and investment matters for the County and many subordinate public agencies. From 1982 to 1990, he was in private law practice at major law firms in New York and Los Angeles, where he was responsible for public finance, corporate finance and securities, bank lending, real estate, taxation and other transactional matters for public and private clients.

Mr. Saladino is a 1979 graduate of the University of Illinois, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with High Honors, majoring in Investment and Banking. He obtained his law degree from New York University in 1982 and has been admitted to practice law in the states of New York, California and the District of Columbia.
