Info | Guy Houston is a tough, fiscal conservative with a proven track record of getting things done.
Guy was elected to the State Assembly in November 2002 by a solid 7% margin. Guy serves as the Vice-Chairman for the influential Assembly Transportation Committee. He also serves as a member of the Banking and Finance Committee as well as the Labor and Employment Committee.
The newly drawn 15th Assembly District takes in portions of Alameda, Contra Costa, Sacramento, and San Joaquin Counties. While the City of Livermore provides the seat's largest population base, the heart of the district remains the San Ramon Valley, which includes Alamo, Danville, San Ramon and neighboring Walnut Creek. The district also includes the San Joaquin Delta and portions of Pleasanton, Stockton, Galt, and Elk Grove.
As the former Mayor of Dublin, Guy Houston brought fiscally conservative solutions to the city, bringing new technology jobs to the area, rebuilding the citys infrastructure, eliminating all city debt, and preserving open space all while keeping taxes low.
In 1996, Guy Houston led the successful effort to pass the local term limits law, and in 1994, he served as County Chairman for the Three Strikes initiative, and in 1992, Guy Houston chaired Citizens for Measure G which changed Dublin's Mayoral post into a position directly
elected by the voters.
Guy Houston has served on a number of local boards and commissions, including the Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority, the Alameda County Mayors Conference, Dublin Partners in Education, Dublin Youth Football, and Chairman of the Dublin Housing Authority.
Born in Walnut Creek, Guy Houston grew up in the East Bay, where his father, Fred Houston, was a schoolteacher and head football coach at Danvilles San Ramon High School.
Houston was a standout athlete at San Ramon High School, receiving All-League honors in baseball and football and All-Northern California honors as the quarterback for the league championship football team.
Since 1991, Guy has served as President of a local residential real estate and mortgage finance company.
Guy and his wife Inge live in Livermore where they are raising their three children.
