Albert N. Wollenberg, 77, of Ridgecrest Lane, Bristol, husband of Grace (Brooks) Wollenberg, former Terryville resident, died Wednesday (May 6, 1998) at home. Born June 16, 1920 in Terryville, he was a son of the late Albert & Albertina (Haupt) Wollenberg and had been a resident of Terryville most of his life moving to Bristol one year ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. He owned & operated the Wollenberg Driving School of Bristol, Avon & Torrington, since 1958. He graduated from Concordia College of Bronxville, NY. He was very active in local government for many years with 10 years of service on the Plymouth Town Council. He was instrumental in developing the first Terryville Little League and the Terryville American Legion Baseball team organizations. He was a life member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Teuryville, past president of The Driving Schools Assoc. of America, member of the Bristol Exchange Club and also a member of the American Legion Plymouth Post #20. Besides his wife of 56 years, he leaves four sons, Richard A. Wollenberg of Sandusky OH, Carl A. Wollenberg of W. Boylston, MA, Thomas A. Wollenberg of Terryville and Robert A. Wollenberg of Bristol, three Daughters, Lynn G. Anderson of Sudbury, MA, Elaine Wollenberg of North Haven, and Lori G. Savino of Plainville; two Brothers, Wilbert Wollenberg of Byram, NJ, and Ronald Wollenberg of Terryville; A Sister, Eleanor Stafstrom of Deland, FL; 17 Grandchildren; a Great Grandchild; Several nieces & nephew; Predeceased by two brothers, Richard & Robert Wollenberg. The funeral will Saturday (May 9, 1998) 10:30 a.m., Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Terryville. Burial with full military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Terryville. Friends may call the the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville Today from 3-5 & 7-9.
