| Info | A fourth-generation Iowan, Dylan grew up in a small close-knit community in southwest Iowa. He played soccer and was in the arts programs in high school, and after graduating, he went to the University of Iowa to study sociology and political science.
As a lifelong Iowan, Dylan understands the issues that are facing the state. Raised by parents working both blue-collar and white-collar jobs, Dylan is proud of the working-class values such as being direct and using what’s available to you that they instilled in him. During the Great Recession of 2008, Dylan and his family lost their home, and this event motivated him to develop a better understanding of how the world works.
As a gay man, Dylan has had to overcome discrimination among other challenges while growing up. He proudly supports inclusion and supporting people to love who they love. Dylan feels especially at home here in Iowa City thanks to such a diverse and inclusive community. That’s why he’s running for State House! To give back to the community that has given him so much, Dylan wants to bring a fresh and important perspective to Des Moines.
