InfoJoseph Matthew "Joe" O'Dea

My name is Joe O’Dea. I’m a husband, a dad, and a proud Coloradan. I’m running because I'm worried about my country. I’m worried about all the division, the hate, the weakness. This isn’t who we are. I miss my country.

I’m a Republican, but I’m an outsider. I’m not a political party kind of guy. I’m an America kind of guy. I believe in my heart of hearts that both political parties are failing the American people. A great nation is being betrayed by the bitterness of small men and petty partisans. If I’m a US Senator, I’ll vote for my country and for Colorado. What’s good for one political party or the other does not dictate what’s best for Colorado.

I’m going to hammer the table on spending issues. The debt has become a moral issue. I’m going to fight hard to cut wasteful spending – I’ll be a voice for fiscal discipline, responsible government, and balancing the budget.

Partisanship and political division is the number one threat to America and to our continued prosperity. I’ll be the kind of Senator who works with reasonable people on both sides of the aisle.

I grew up in a working-class family – my dad was a Denver police officer. I was raised and went to school in Denver. I started working as a construction laborer as a senior in high school and became a Union Carpenter Apprentice and Journeyman Carpenter.

I got accepted into the Construction Management School at Colorado State, but I left the program as a senior to run my own construction company full-time. That was 1983, and I’ve run the company ever since, and it's provided for my family and a lot of others.
