InfoRob was recently named Chief Whip for the Official Opposition. Prior to this, Rob served as the Party's Transport Critic.

Rob was the federal M.P. for Niagara Falls, from 1984 - 1993. During that time, Rob served as Vice-Chair of the House of Commons Justice Committee, and as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice. In 1993 he was appointed Minister of Science and Minister Responsible for Small Businesses.

As an MP, Rob was instrumental in the passage of federal Anti Child Pornography legislation, as well as legislation protecting the airspace over Niagara Falls.

Perhaps Rob's greatest achievement and source of pride is his family. He has been married to Arlene for over 25 years. Together they have raised three wonderful children. Rob Jr. is a recent university graduate, Peter is still attending university and his youngest daughter, Christine, is now in high school.

Rob has always been very active in his church and as a volunteer throughout the community. He has a well-earned reputation for honesty, integrity, accessibility and reliability.

In addition to his federal public service record, Rob spent six years on Niagara Regional Council and in the 2003 municipal election he captured the highest vote total of all of Niagara Region’s politicians - 18,200 votes!

Rob is also a former School Board Trustee, a member of the Board of Directors of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority, a member of the Advisory Board at Project Share and was a Niagara Escarpment Commissioner for six years.
