InfoSteve Canessa has been making headlines in Massachusetts ever since he was a student at Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville when he was named Football All Scholastic by every major Boston and local newspaper. As Class President for three consecutive years, an academic leader, the three year starting quarterback, and senior captain of his schools first-ever championship football team, Steve showed great potential early.

He continued his success in college and was awarded membership to the Golden Key National Honor Society in 1999 and The National Association of Collegiate Scholars in both 2000 and 2001. In 2002, his greatest academic achievement was honored as he graduated Summa Cum Laude (a distinction for his 3.93 GPA) from Bridgewater State College with a Bachelors of Science degree in Management.

Steves political journey started when he became a member of the Plymouth County Democratic League and the Lakeville Democratic Town Committee. From his participation in these organizations, he was elected as a Lakeville delegate to attend the Massachusetts State Democratic Convention for two years. He won his first political race for a position on the Lakeville School Committee (LSC) in 2001. He has since been appointed as the representative for the LSC to the Parent-Teacher Organization, the Lakeville Library Planning Needs Committee, and the Teacher Supervision and Professional Development Committee. Steve has most recently been voted as the Vice Chairman of the Lakeville School Committee. His fervor for excellence in education began during high school when he was a mentor and tutor to younger high school students. He feels this is one of the best ways to individually enrich a childs education which is why he continues to be a tutor and mentor to students today.

Currently, Steve is pursuing a Masters Degree from Suffolk University in Business Administration (MBA). He looks forward to combining his education from real world experiences and classroom instruction to better serve the citizens of the 12th Bristol District.
