Deanna Demuzio grew up on her family’s farm in Gillespie, and has spent her entire life here – as a small business owner, community volunteer and mother and grandmother. She is dedicated to preserving our small-town way of life.
Senator Demuzio has dedicated herself to the community and the region. As a volunteer, she is actively involved in organizations such as the Carlinville Public School Foundation (President); Daughters of the American Revolution; Catholic Daughters of America; Relay for Life; the Carlinville Public Library Board; and the Macoupin County Democratic Women's Organization. Previously, Senator Demuzio has performed volunteer work with the Carlinville Business and Professional Women, the Carlinville Chamber of Commerce, and the Carlinville Hospital Auxiliary. She has served as president of each of the three groups at various times. Other organizations include the PTA, the Illinois Hospital Association, the American Heart Association, the Rotary Club and until very recently, she served as a Macoupin County Fair Judge.
Senator Demuzio has two children with her late husband, Vince: Brad (wife, Lori) and Stephanie (husband, Patrick) Blair and four grandchildren: Blake, Brooke, Tristan and Gillian.
