Retired Colonel
Elmer James “Jim” Mason is a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Army, where he retired as a Colonel. After his military service, he completed an encore career in defense contracting, where he officially retired in early 2021.
Jim is currently serving his second term on the Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education, and currently serves as Board Secretary. Previous Board leadership service includes Secretary, Vice President, and President.
Mr. Mason holds a BA in Political Science from Knox College, an MS in Personnel Management from Troy University, and a Master of Military Art and Science Degree from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He also is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and Leadership Pikes Peak Signature Program, Class of 2013.
Jim volunteers in the Colorado Springs community serving as a member of Leadership Pikes Peak Board and Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority Board, and he is the former President of Xi Pi Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Jim is recipient of the 2015 Leadership Pikes Peak’s Community Inspiration Leadership Award.
