Info | Born in Washington County, Ohio
In the 1850s, Tibbles was active with John Brown. He was once captured and hanged by pro-slavery partisans, but some associates hiding in nearby woods cut him down. He was reported to have been the final living member of Brown's Kansas band.
Worked as a minister after the Civil War, once for a Methodist congregation and once for a Presbyterian congregation, but he believed both were too strict in certain unnecessary items of belief.
