Info | BALDWIN, Henry Alexander, a Delegate from the Territory of Hawaii; born in Paliuli, Maui County, Hawaii, January 12, 1871; attended Haiku School in Haiku, and Punahou School in Honolulu; was graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., in 1889 and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, Mass., in 1894; engaged in sugar planting; member of the Territorial senate 1913-1921; served as a lieutenant colonel and later as colonel in the Third Regiment of the Hawaii National Guard 1915-1917; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of J. Kuhio Kalanianaole and served from March 25, 1922, to March 3, 1923; declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1922; resumed his former business pursuits and was also interested in banking; served in the Hawaii house of representatives in 1933; member of the Hawaii senate 1934-1937, serving as president during the 1937 session; died at Paia, Maui County, Hawaii, October 8, 1946; interment in Makawao Cemetery, Makawao, Hawaii.
