Info | KALANIANAOLE, Jonah Kuhio, a Delegate from the Territory of Hawaii; born in Koloa, island of Kauai, Hawaii, March 26, 1871; attended the Royal School and Punahou College, Honolulu; studied four years in St. Matthew's College, California; was a student at the Royal Agricultural College in England and was graduated from a business college in England; created a prince by royal proclamation in 1884; occupied a position in the Department of the Interior of the Hawaiian Government; took part in the revolution of the Hawaiians in 1895 and was sentenced to one year's imprisonment; visited Africa during the years 1899-1902 and fought in the British Army in the Boer War; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-eighth and to the nine succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1903, until his death in Waikiki, near Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 7, 1922; interment in Royal Mausoleum, Nuuanu.
