InfoAaron has a deep connection to Wyandotte and is proud to be a fourth generation Dotte. Aaron was born at Providence Medical Center, KCK. Aaron has lived in Turner his whole life and feels like the people here are his family. Aaron’s father joined the Air force before he was born and was honorably discharged. Aaron’s dad is permanently disabled due to his time in service. His sacrifice has shown Aaron what it means to give more than you receive. Aaron has seen how our veterans lives can be after a service related injury(even with disability payments). Aaron’s family's quality of life has largely been dependent on his mother’s ability to provide an income. Aaron’s mom has a masters degree in education. She has been unable to find work that matches her qualifications. With teachers teaching ever increasing class sizes, the total number of teachers needed is reduced. It’s sad that the state of Kansas has decided the best policy for our children is to put teachers like Aaron’s mother out of the teaching business. Aaron knows she would love the opportunity to show her love for all children, as she has for him. However instead Aaron’s mom is working front desk at a hotel earning a far reduced wage then she would be working her passion. Aaron believes we must implement restrictions on the number of students a teacher can teach so teachers like his mom may find employment in this field within Kansas, instead of leaving the state to teach elsewhere.

Turner is where Aaron calls home. Aaron went to Turner elementary for preschool and up-to 5th grade. Aaron did online home school during his duration of middle school. For high school, Aaron was blessed to have the opportunity to attend Shawnee Mission West Highschool(SMW). Aaron wishes other Turner residents would be able to receive a SMW level of education. Sadly, Turner elementary ranks 2/10, the middle school 1/10, the high school 1/10. Aaron hates to say it,“If you go to a school in Dotte, you are having opportunities stolen from you.” Education is one reason the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. If you are affluent enough to live in Johnson County and are able to send your kids to a good public school, chances are your kids will be able to afford to live in JoCo too once they graduate. But if you send your kids to a Dotte school, they will always be trapped here. But regardless of these flaws, Turner is where Aaron calls home. Aaron has been walking to Christy’s Tasty Queen for a refreshing milkshake ever since his eleventh summer. The only way Aaron could move to another city is if Christy opened up more locations so he could always get his tenderloin fix.

Aaron had to complete a GED because of health issues. When asked about those issues, ”I was locked in a closet, among other things, for three years at Turner Elementary. It was solitary confinement and I was affected neurologically. This severe trauma caused me to be relieved from school, and I fought through my condition to complete my GED and excelled academically.” He said, “That’s why I ran for Governor in 2018, because I’m lucky to be alive, and I don’t want any child to suffer as I did.” Aaron is currently continuing his studies with a main focus of eventually joining the Air Force.

Currently, he is studying Liberal Arts at Johnson County Community College in the hope of having most of his credits transfer when he applies to a four-year school. Aaron is considering K-State or KU, with a preference of KU. Studying at KU would allow him to continue living at home while he pursues his studies. Also, KU has an Air Force ROTC program which would pay for his bachelors degree if he signs up for a six-year term as an officer. If Aaron was lucky enough to receive acceptance into the ROTC program at KU, he would likely only serve four-years as your State Representative(seeking reelection only once).

We hope you enjoyed reading about Aaron’s family, his experience with the education system, and his future hopes for myself. Aaron says,”I hope to have the opportunity to learn about you as well in the coming months so I may better represent you as your State Representative. Thank you!”
