InfoBob is a native of a rural area where he learned the value of hard work. He is a veteran of the United States Army. Military service left Bob with a passion to serve. Bob then served for twenty years as a police officer in metro Denver. He served as a patrol officer, a detective, and a field training officer and academy instructor working to mentor new officers in the field of law enforcement. Working on the street gives Bob a real, practical knowledge of the legal system that he applies to every case as a prosecutor.
After a full career, Bob was not done serving his community. Bob studied his way through law school, and in 2013 came to the Valley as a new Deputy District Attorney, working his way to Senior Deputy District Attorney, before becoming the District Attorney for the 12th Judicial District. Bob lives in Alamosa, and he is ready to bring his decades of experience back to the Valley and get to work.

Criminal Justice is a collaboration between the community, law enforcement, prosecutors, and the Courts. The last two years have destroyed the trust for everyone.

All stakeholders need to come together to review the failures, fix the backlog of cases, and chart a path forward.

Bob pledges just that. Having served the Valley for years, he knows what it takes to be the leader making hard choices. Bob will work with everyone who needs to be heard, and repair the shattered trust to make a safer community.

Bob has prosecuted a felony jury trial in all 6 counties in the district, and he's the only prosecutor who can say that in recent memory. He's seen what works, and he knows what does not work. Bob knows that the office needs to recruit and retain the best attorneys, support investigations from start to finish, comply with the law, empower victims, and continue to find avenues for improvement.

The last two years have left victims abandoned. The Valley has endured State investigations, national headlines, and dereliction of duty.

Justice means fairness for all. It means victims are treated with respect, not contempt. Justice means prosecutors taking the hard cases head on, not dismissing them. Justice means reviewing every case on the merits and available evidence.

Robert Willett was honored by the Animal Legal Defense Fund's "Top 10 Animal Defenders" in 2021. Animal abuse and neglect cannot be written off, as the last two years saw.

Victims rely on the District Attorney for justice. As District Attorney, Bob pledges to create a new Special Victims Unit that will be highly skilled and trained on their obligations under the Victim's Rights Act, how to take the tough cases to trial, and ensure Justice for the Valley.

Under Bob, victims will feel empowered and protected. Not deserted.
