Info | Robert H. McWilliams was an educator. He was a high school principal at several schools and a professor of history at two universities in Kansas before moving to Colorado. He came to Denver in 1927 when the University of Denver hired him as a sociology professor. He rose to be the head of the Sociology Department there. After he retired from the university, he ran for City Council. McWilliams loved the outdoors and after he joined the city council he started the process of converting an often-flooded, snake and rat infested gulch area into a fine park which was later named for him.
