| Info | Mrs. Bettye Sue Hudson Bozeman
Born March 14, 1944 in Sumner, GA, she was the daughter of Dina Hudson of Sylvester and the late Lemmie Eugene Hudson. Mrs. Hudson was a 1962 Worth County High School graduate and a lifelong resident of Worth County. She was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church and later became a member of Isabella Baptist Church. Mrs. Bettye was an entrepreneur; she owned and operated what she is most well known for, "Bettye's Flower Shop," for decades. When she opened her business, she would send a flower to every patient admitted to Worth County Hospital to brighten their day. Mrs. Bettye served as a County Commissioner starting in 1991 until the time of her death, every term except for one. She was a leader and instrumental in placing fire stations in the rural area of Worth County. She was a pioneer in helping getting ambulance services started in Warwick. Mrs. Bettye was a selfless volunteer and served others all her life. She assisted in the flood relief and recovery work in 1994. She most recently assisted in volunteer setup and relief center in Antioch after the devastating storms that ripped through Worth County in 2017. She was a lover of her community and country, a true patriot and even made it a point to go vote in the last days of her life. She was well known for her country cooking and her service to others in need. Mrs. Bettye especially loved children and was always prepared to treat them. She was involved with the Humane Society and served as a board member at the Sylvester Library. Mrs. Bettye was a true champion for the community, emergency responders and she advocated tirelessly for human rights.
