Hi, I'm Madison, but you can call me "Shep"

WHERE I COME FROM

I am a family man. My family is the most important thing in my life. I take my responsibility as a husband and father seriously. Hampton Roads is the home of my ancestors and I love my community! It saddens me to have seen firsthand the struggles of our declining middle-class families, along with the many families in this region who suffer the same decline. I can relate to their struggles. I have experienced homelessness, and living paycheck to paycheck. Therefore, I truly understand the plight of the many disenfranchised individuals living within the Third District. As a teacher, and community developer in impoverished neighborhoods, I know the trials and tribulations of poverty and I am acutely sensitive to the issues and needs of our most affected citizens.
I spent my youth in the Tidewater area, where I played football for Hampton High (Go Crabbers!). My mother, uncles, and aunts also all attended Hampton High. We have a deep rooted history in the Hampton Roads area. I remember fondly working at my dad’s shop “JMX” off of Roanoke, and where my grandma lived off of Hollywood Avenue. I have had the unfortunate experience of losing family members due to unwarranted violence and crime. I encompass the pain firsthand, dealing with of the tragedies of “Pine Chapel" and "Bad News” survival.

My life experiences have shaped me into the man I am today. I am God fearing, compassionate, strong, and caring individual and I will bring all of my experiences and expertise to this endeavor. My commitment of service and forward thinking leadership to the Hampton Roads communities will leave a lasting impression.


Community & Commitment

I see America as an incomplete book with volumes of success yet to be written. It is our civic duty to ensure the next generation inherits a better nation, a stronger nations, a more secure, and more prosperous nation than previous generations have passed down throughout our history. As a government for the people and by the people, we believe that the relationship between the government and the people has been usurped by corporate interests and partisan politics. Now is the time to bring reasonable dialogue back into our discourse in order to get things done for our constituents! It's time to take our country back! We need your support to make this dream a reality beginning this very moment!

Statement of Principle

We have been given a sacred trust to work for our families. We will respect the wisdom of those before us and the future of our sons and daughters to follow. We will discharge this trust through our common sense legislative policy, our tireless work ethic to address constituent concerns and our all encompassing commitment to a better Hampton Roads within the great Commonwealth of Virginia. Our political platform is guided by these three principles:
