Info | Madison Cawthorn is an 8th generation resident of North Carolina’s 11th Congressional district. His ancestors have served Western North Carolina communities for over 200 years including in the Revolutionary War.
Cawthorn was homeschooled in Hendersonville and was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy by Rep. Mark Meadows in 2014. His application was rejected. Later in 2014, Cawthorn was involved in an automobile accident when as a passenger, his friend driving the car crashed into a concrete barrier after falling asleep at the wheel. The crash left Cawthorn partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair.
Following his accident, Cawthorn worked as a staffer in the district office of Congressman Meadows. Cawthorn later enrolled at Patrick Henry College in 2016, but dropped out after receiving low grades in his first semester.
Prior to running for Congress, Cawthorn was a motivational speaker and created a real estate investment firm in Hendersonville.
Madison attends Biltmore Church in Hendersonville. He enjoys hunting, cooking, travel, fitness, photography & videography, and studying history. He is engaged to be married to Cristina Bayardelle.
