| Info | Gail Kopplin is a native of Sterling, NE where he grew up in a family of 4 sisters and his mother. He learned early in life to make the best of any situation and to value hard work, honesty, and service to others.
Education has always been important to Gail. He earned a Bachelor of Education degree at Peru State College, a Master of Education degree at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, and an Education Specialist certificate from the University. He completed 40 years of service to the schools of Nebraska, spending 38 years in the Gretna Public Schools.
Gail came to the Gretna school system as a teacher in the elementary school. He served in several positions in the Gretna Schools including roles as Elementary School Principal, Director of Special Education, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent, a position he held for fourteen years. In his role as superintendent, Gail was able to reduce the tax load on the patrons of the district and to provide a leadership that allowed the staff to build an outstanding, award winning school system.
Family life and values are very important to the Kopplin's. Mary Lou and Gail will celebrate 44 years of marriage this year. They are proud parents of three adult children and four grandchildren, who light up their lives. They are members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Gretna. The Gretna Chamber of Commerce recognized the Kopplin's as Citizens of the Year, and Gail received the same honor from the Gretna Business Association.
Service to the community has always come easy for Gail, and he has served the community and Sarpy County well. In addition to his school duties, Gail has provided leadership to numerous service groups including the Gretna Optimist Club, the Gretna Business Association, and the Gretna Chamber of Commerce. He also gave years of service to the Gretna Area Development Corporation, the Sarpy County Economic Development Corporation, the Governor's Task Force on Alternative Fuels, and the Gretna Board of Adjustments.
Gail has made a career of service to those around him. His dedication, openness, and honesty have gained him the respect of the community. He is seeking to continue his involvement in and service to Sarpy County by representing Legislative District 3 in the Nebraska Unicameral.
