InfoShona Haslam is your Conservative candidate for Lanark and Hamilton East. Shona brings with her a wealth of experience and a track record of getting things done. As your MP, Shona's priorities will be:

To stand firm against the SNP's plans for another devise referendum.
To get Brexit sorted and be a strong voice for those in Lanark and Hamilton East who want certainty moving forward.
To campaign for better transport links for the area, with rural towns being included in bus and train routes.
The SNP are failing our education and health services. We need a strong voice to hold them to account and more investment in our vital services.
Five people a day become homeless in South Lanarkshire - 1,926 per year. As your MP Shona will campaign for better affordable homes for our families.
Here's a message from Shona.

I am delighted to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Lanark and Hamilton East in the 2019 General Election. Elected as a councillor in 2017, just over the hills in the Borders, I then became Leader of the Council. It was a steep learning curve but I have loved every minute. Getting things done like introducing a councillor in all of our high schools a year before the SNP had the idea, investing in our roads and getting the Borderlands deal across the line have been some key achievements in the last 2 years. As your MP I will continue to get results and make improvements to our local services.

Prior to that I was the director of a local charity Peeblesshire Youth Trust. We mentored vulnerable young people between the ages of 8 and 12, kids who were at risk of being missed, who were flying just below the radar that normal services who deal with crises would miss. And between 2003 and 2015 I was with Asthma UK Scotland, initially as their public affairs director and latterly as National Director. As your MP I will use this experience to ensure our vulnerable young people are not left behind.

But my love of politics stretches further back. Campaigning with Alison Polson in the 1992 General Election and moving to London to work in Public Affairs after studying politics at Uni, I have for the last 20 (something) years been in the background of politics. With my two kids now at a better age it was my time, time to take a step forward, time to do what I had always helped others to do.

Only with your support and help we can turn this constituency blue. And I know that we can.
