InfoGery Chico's distinguished record of leadership and service to Chicago includes serving as Mayor Richard M. Daley's Chief of Staff from September 1992 through May 1995. Prior to that, he was Deputy Chief of Staff and also General Counsel to the Chicago Development Council.

In 1995, Mayor Daley appointed him President of the Chicago Board of Education, and re-appointed him in 1999. Chico championed a broad series of educational and fiscal reforms, continually raising the bar for the third largest school system in the nation. His successes garnered critical acclaim on the national level, and he is widely credited with the impressive turn-around of Chicagos public school system. In 1997 Chico received the award for Outstanding School Board President from the Illinois State Board of Education.

Donating his time to a wide range of civic organizations, Chico serves as vice-chairman of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and as a trustee for the Field Museum and Mexican Fine Arts Museum. He is past President of the Mexican-American Chamber of Commerce. Chico is also active in the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago.

Gery received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois with a major in political science, and earned his J.D. from the Loyola University School of Law in 1985.
