Info | Collett Leventhorpe - Conservative Party politician in North Carolina. Born in Devonshire, England, he was an officer in the Royal English Army for 10 years before leaving service in 1843 and moving to NC. He served in the Confederate Army and was severely wounded at Gettysburg, at which time he had risen to Brigadier General. During Reconstruction, Leventhorpe was active in the Conservative Party. In failing health, he sold his farm in Caldwell County in 1885. He died at a relative's house four years later.
