| Info | Commissioner Michelle Stone has 35 years of financial services experience, 27 years in the Ocala market; including nearly 20 years with SunTrust Bank where she held the office of Senior Vice President/Area Manager and Ocala City President. During her career she has served in various capacities overseeing all aspects of banking services to help personal clients, small businesses and owners meet their financial aspirations. She has been recognized with various achievements and awards.
Michelle is a graduate of the Florida School of Banking at the University of Florida and has achieved her American Institute of Banking Diploma along with various other banking related seminars and classes to remain up-to-date in best practices. Michelle recently completed the voluntary education program of specialized training for Florida’s county commissioners and obtained the designation of Certified County Commissioner through The Florida Association of Counties in partnership with UF/IFAS Extension, University of Florida. She’ll continue her studies to obtain the accreditation of Advanced County Commissioner beginning in the fall of 2018.
With over 29 years of service to the Marion County area, Michelle has built an impressive resume of community service. Among others, she is a current board member of Hospice of Marion County, United Way of Marion County and is their Campaign Chair for 2018, Leadership Ocala/Marion Alumni and the College of Central Florida Board of Trustees. She is a member of the Ocala/Marion Sunset Rotary Club. She represents Marion County Commission as liaison to Marion County Continuum of Care, School Board, Early Learning Coalition, Marion Senior Services, The Centers, Marion County Hospital District Trustees and Marion County Steering Committee for Health. She chairs the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordination Board and the Withlacoochee Regional Water Supply Authority.
She is a graduate and past Member of the Board of Regents of Leadership Ocala/Marion and past board member of the Junior League of Ocala; past board member of Marion Senior Services and former March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon Coordinator and ALS Walk Team Captain. She chaired the 2014 American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Marion County.
Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends, serving in her church and our community and long distance running.
