Info
Raul and his family moved from New Mexico to Perris, near Hemet, when he was 1 year old. By the age of seven Raul was working the fields of Romoland and Homeland for Kenny Ray and Anthony Borgia where he picked onions and strawberries in the field. He also worked weekends walking with his wheelbarrow and tools to clean yards. By starting so young, Raul learned the value of hard work and earning a day’s wage. As a young teen he worked at March Air Force Base and then at a Hemet grocery store.

Growing up in Riverside County in the 1970’s, the population was diversifying and changing. As a boy, he experienced what it was like to be looked at differently because of the color of his skin. At the Sun City Pool as a kid Raul and his brother would jump into the water and all the other kids would jump out. That experience could have made Raul angry and bitter towards the people of his community, instead it taught him how vital it is to treat others with respect and dignity.

Raul had struggles in his early adulthood and for a time was homeless. It was during this time in his life that he had the good fortune to meet his future father in law, Evaristo "Junior" Montoya. Junior hired him as a carpenter, an opportunity that inspired Raul to fight for a better, brighter future by attending contractor’s licensing school. Three years later, he bought his first home. Four years after that, at just 27, he started his own company. Since 1989, that company has employed hundreds of people, and built countless homes and buildings from Palm Springs to Hemet and across several states.

Riverside County has been Raul’s home his entire life. He is active in his local parish as a catechism teacher and in 2004 he received the Our Lady of Guadalupe Award in recognition for his 30 years of service to the church. He was a volunteer coach at the parish’s school, and a little league baseball and soccer coach for 23 years. Through his small business he has worked with the Consumer Affairs Department to give testimony as an Industry Expert in matters dealing with all facets of construction. He has also been a vice president of the local Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Raul is also a past Executive board member with the Inland Empire Hispanic Leadership council under President Jaime Hurtado.

Raul is running because he has lived the American Dream. He sees the big government policies that AOC, Congressman Ruiz and the rest of the liberal partisans in congress are pushing and knows that they are threatening what makes this country great – our ability to start and grow businesses, support our families, and improve our communities. Their belief that government is supposed to make decisions for your life is wrong. There is nothing wrong with needing a hand to lift you up – Raul knows that firsthand. He and his wife needed a little extra support as they were starting their family, and when they became financially independent, they worked hard to give back. But AOC and the radical liberals want to use handouts to keep people dependent on the government and rob them of their shot at the American Dream.

Raul is running to stop them.
