| Info | Dr. Spires is a true native son; born and raised in Jackson County just minutes from his birth place. He is the youngest of five children. When he was born, his father was 61 years old and his mother was 41. Dr. Spires jokingly stated, "I almost didn't make it". His ancestry traces back to the birth of his paternal grandfather in 1840.
Dr. Spires reported that he has very little knowledge of his grandparents due to his birth being so near to the end of his parent's reproductive years. In fact, the only grandparent that he has any knowledge of was his maternal grandmother, who passed away when he was only six years old. Notwithstanding the limited ancestry knowledge, he is confident that they were very compassionate and loving people as evidence by his values that his parents instilled in him.
Dr. Spires is a graduate of St. Paul High School, a school that he credits for launching his persona. He earned an A.A. degree from Chipola College, B.A. from the University of West Florida, M.S. and Ed.S from Troy State University, and a Ph.D from Florida A&M University.
Dr. Spires is married to the former Martha Edwards of Greenwood, Florida and they have two daughters: Winter, co-founder and co-owner of SpiresWood, PA Law firm located in Destin, Florida and Brittini, Business Manager for Spires Behavioral Health Care Center, PLLC located in Marianna, Florida.
Dr. Spires is currently Associate Dean of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division and a psychology professor at Chipola College. Prior to joining the college, he was a Mental Health Program Director. In addition to the foregoing duties, Dr. Spires serves as a mentor to the youth in the community along with serving on many human services boards. He is a true philanthropist.
