| Info | Commissioner Brooks is a native Floridian and has been a resident of Highlands County since 1967. He is a graduate of South Florida Community College (1970), and the University of Central Florida (1972). After 7 years in environmental Health with the Highlands County Health Department and 5 years as Highlands County EMS Coordinator, he resigned in 1985 to help his wife's family, Saxon Groves, Inc. built and manage a new RV and Mobile Home community, Reflections on Silver Lake. In June 2014 after 29 years, Saxon Groves, Inc. decided to accept an offer to sell Reflections on Silver Lake. Since that time, he has been retired and spends a large portion of his time tending to his County Commissioners duties.
Over the years, he has served on numerous appointed boards and civic organizations, including 40 years as a Rotarian, 23 years as a member of the Highlands County Planning and Zoning Commission and 8 years as a member of the South Florida Community College Board of Trustees.
He and his wife of 39 years Toni enjoy serving in their Church, Sebring Christian Church, boating, fishing, golf, travel, University of Florida Football and other sports, spending time with their two children and two teenage granddaughters.
