| Info | I was born in a small town of Czarny Dunajec located in the southern most region of Poland called Podhale, next to the Tatra Mountains. The significance of my hometown of Czarny Dunajec is underscored by the fact that at one time, the town was designated a status of the state/country by the Emperor of Austria, Franz Joseph.
Upon completion of the Elementary School in Czarny Dunajec, I continued my education at the regional High School, ‘Lyceum of Seweryn Goszczyński’ of Nowy Targ. Within one week of my graduation in 1967, my mother, brother, and I, immigrated to the United States to rejoin our father in Chicago.
Upon arrival, I enrolled at what is now Washington College. Two-years later, I transferred to the University of Illinois where I enrolled in the Department of Engineering and majored in Computer Science. During my time at the University of Illinois, I had the opportunity to work with the Polish scientist, Stanisław Sieniutycz, in the pursuit of programming and testing of advanced algorithms related to the optimization of drying and moistening processes. As a student, I also helped establish two organizations: The Polish-American Student Association (PASA) and The Joseph Conrad Yacht Club (JCYC).
Interestingly enough, despite graduating in 1971 with an Engineering Degree with a major in Computer Science, I never worked a single day as an engineer. Instead, I took a position in the new and promising field of Data Processing (now known as Information Technologies) and never looked back.
My professional career evolved around three companies: Aldens, Inc., Zenith Radio Corporation, Inc., and the last 20 years of my career at Northern Trust Bank where I was involved with the implementation of the most advanced image-processing technologies of the day offered by the Teknekron Financial Services from Berkley, California.
