Info | David Arreola was born in Gainesville, and is currently the youngest City Commissioner ever elected in the City Of Gainesville. His parents immigrated to the United States with scholarships to earn their advanced degrees and chose Gainesville as their home. David attended Buchholz High School and Santa Fe College, before transferring to Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida to earn his B.A. in Political Science.
After graduating with his undergraduate degree, David accepted a position with David M.W. Setzler, P.A., a law firm he interned for as a student. During his employment, he was responsible for negotiation and recovery of insurance claims for clients. He also earned his Master’s in Business Administration from St. Leo’s University, while working at the Setzler law firm.
David returned to Gainesville to be closer to his family and began volunteering around the community, sharing his experience and desire to help people succeed. He became involved with various organizations such as Alachua County Emerging Leaders (ACEL), The Gainesville Sun Reader’s Advisory Board, Welcoming Gainesville and Family Promise of Gainesville. He currently attends Holy Faith Catholic Church.
Before being elected to the City Commission, David was elected as a delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention, and served as President and founder of the newly-created Alachua County Young Democrats.
Whenever he can, David enjoys reading, being outside and spending time with family and friends.
