I am an active and engaged Elbert County Citizen. Prior to election as your District 1 Commissioner, I served on the Elbert County Planning Commission, the Board of the Directors for the Elizabeth School District, as an Officer within Post 82 of the Elizabeth American Legion, and as a Board Member of the Conservative Breakfast Association of Elbert County (where I currently serve as the association's chairman). I have worked tirelessly to improve the community in which we live. I have previously served as both a Precinct Committee Person and member of the Executive Committee of the Elbert County Republicans.
I retired from the Army at Fort Carson as a Colonel and Brigade Commander with over twenty-three years of service in many locations within the U.S. and overseas.
I was born in Massachusetts and studied engineering and participated in the ROTC program at the University of Pennsylvania. On completion, I was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry. After initial training, I was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and deployed as an Anti-tank Platoon Leader during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After redeployment, I transferred to the Ordnance Corp and the remainder of my career was focused on positions of increasing responsibility in various logistics fields (maintenance, supply, transportation). Along the way, I served in various leadership positions in combat and in many long-range planning and resourcing positions.

In addition to my logistics and engineering background, I have more than a decade of experience managing multi-million dollar public budgets, union contract negotiations, and contracted services. I have worked on several successful committees and boards that have tackled issues from increasing safety and improving education to the development of long-range facilities plans and addressing dramatic funding shortfalls.
I have been honored to serve in several regional and state-level positions over the past several years. I was appointed to a six-year term as a member of the 18th Judicial District's Judicial Nominating Commission by former Governor Hickenlooper. I serve on the Casualty and Property Board of Directors for County Technical Services, Inc (CTSI is the insurance pool for 54 Colorado County Governments), I was elected by the county and municipal representatives of the eastern Colorado to co-chair the Eastern Transportation Planning Region and was recently appointed serve on the State-wide Transportation Advisory Committee to the CDOT Commissioners.
My wife, Andrea- a Colorado native- and I - who got here as soon as I could- chose to settle in this area to raise our daughter based in a large part on the quality of the schools and traditional rural nature of the community. We have never been happier with our decision to settle in Elbert County!
