InfoThe Eagle County Sheriff's Office was established in 1883 and James Van Beek is currently the 17th Sheriff of Eagle County Colorado.

Since taking office in 2015 Sheriff Van Beek has been working in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies and community-based groups in spearheading wrap-around community-based mental and behavioral health services within Eagle County to include a co-response model to best serve those in need.

This model has proven highly effective in getting the proper care to those in need, reducing the strain on medical facilities as well as diverting those suffering from mental health issues away from the Eagle County Detention Facilities and onto a positive healing path. Eagle County is modeling the way for other agencies within the State of Colorado to follow.

During his tenure, Sheriff Van Beek dramatically increased the public media and social media presence of the Eagle County Sheriff's Office and emphasized multilingual communications to reach the broadest spectrum of the citizens of Eagle County as well as increasing diversification amongst the front-line staff and command staff.

Sheriff Van Beek and his outstanding team of professionals have worked consistently and diligently with community and political leaders looking past political affiliations to build bridges and relationships providing the highest level of service to the community. Currently, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office also provides leading law enforcement services to the Town of Gypsum and the Town of Minturn through contractual agreements in a highly productive and fiscally responsible manner.
