| Info | Julie Freese is a Fremont County native having attended schools at Wyoming Indian Elementary (formerly known as Mill Creek) and graduated from Lander Valley High School. She attended Casper College for two years receiving her Associate of Arts Degree in 1980. Having worked the summers between high school and college at the County Clerk’s Office, she found the work to be interesting and exciting. Julie became the Elections Supervisor in 1982 and the Deputy County Clerk in 1987. Julie ran for the County Clerk position in 1994 and has subsequently been re-elected seven times. Freese has held the office of Vice-President and President in the County Clerk’s Association. Other committees served were the Complaint Procedures Committee for Elections, Statewide Voter Registration Committee, and was the local representative to the National Elections Standards Board since its inception and served until January of 2014. She was the County Clerk representative to the WACO (Wyoming Association of County Officials) board as the President in 2013. She also served as the Clerk’s representative to the Jt. Corporations (Legislature) Special Task Force on Special Districts.
The Clerk serves the county in a number of capacities such as Vehicle Titling, Lien Filings, Land Recordings, Marriage Licenses, Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, Elections and Voter Registration, Bookkeeping, Payroll and as the Budget Officer.
Julie also serves as Treasurer to the Lander Old Timer’s Rodeo Association in her spare time.
Julie thoroughly enjoys her job with Fremont County because it is a way to truly give back to the county. She lives in rural Lander with her husband Burt. They have two children Trisha and Jake, one grandson Tayton and three granddaughters Karlee, Jenna, Hadley, and Cora.
