Infon June of 1972 after having served in the United States Army and being assigned to Fort Huachuca Arizona I began my career in Law Enforcement. I joined the Monterey Park Police Department. Monterey Park is located in Southern California next to the East Los Angeles County area. I attended the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Academy.

I spent 30 years with the Monterey Park Police Department and I worked in many different assignments ranging from Patrol, Investigations, Intelligence Gang Unit, Canine Handler and Internal Investigations. I also moved up through the ranks and at the time of retirement I was the Lieutenant in charge of Internal Affairs, Investigations Bureau, Gang Unit (intelligence) and Narcotics.

I retired in 2002 and moved to the Parker Arizona area. I became a volunteer with the Parker Police Department and eventually a part time employee working in records and evidence. I then went to work for the Colorado River Regional Crisis Shelter. I was an advocate for victims of Domestic Violence, a FLETC certified instructor on Law Enforcement and Domestic Violence. I also became a Behavioral Health Technician and taught Domestic Violence classes to court ordered Domestic Violence Offenders.

I was also intimately involved in starting the La Paz County Veteran’s Court and setting up the Mentor Program. In 2017 I was elected to the Office of Sheriff of La Paz County. The Sheriff’s Office has made great strides in improving services over the last year and modernizing how we serve the public. I remain active in support to our military both current and veterans.

I have been involved in the Lions Club for over 25 years. We continue to ship packages of items needed by our troops in the war zone each year. We have shipped over ten tons of items over the years. All items shipped are donated items from the Citizens of our area.
