InfoJennifer Shilling is serving her sixth term as the State Representative for the 95th Assembly District. Prior to being elected, she worked as a legislative aide to State Representative Mark Meyer and Congressman Ron Kind. Jennifer is a graduate of UW- La Crosse and a former La Crosse County Supervisor.

Representative Shilling currently serves on the Legislature's Joint Committee on Finance which is primarily responsible for crafting the state's biennial budget and reviewing other state appropriations and revenues. She has previously served on Assembly committees dealing with colleges and universities, financial institutions, health services, insurance, and workforce development. She continues to be heavily involved in these issues and is also a member of the Wisconsin Technology Council Board of Directors.

She remains active in her community, serving on the UW-La Crosse Alumni Association Board of Directors (past President), the UW- La Crosse Chancellor’s Community Council, the Viterbo University Board of Advisors, the Wisconsin Women in Government Board of Directors, the Family and Children’s Center Community Board, the La Crosse County League of Women Voters, the La Crosse County Democratic Party, and volunteering for the United Way. She is also a founding member and co-chair of the La Crosse Area Dental Care Advocacy Coalition, which is dedicated to increasing access to dental care for all Wisconsin residents.

Representative Shilling is a graduate of the Bowhay Institute on Legislative Leadership Development and the Onalaska Citizen’s Police Academy. In 2001, she was selected to participate in the American Council of Young Political Leaders delegation to the Philippines, and in 2002 was the commencement speaker for the UW-La Crosse graduation.

Jennifer is also the recipient of numerous awards, including:

o the 2010 Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Conservation Champion Award,
o the 2010 La Crosse Area Development Corporation Triangle of Achievement Award,
o the 2010 UW-La Crosse Student Association Advocate of the Year Award,
o the 2010 Wisconsin Counties Association Friend of County Government Award,
o the 2010 Ken Kolb Great Kids Start With You Award,
o the 2009 UW-La Crosse Alumni Association Rada Distinguished Alumni Award,
o the 2009 Cancer Control Champion Award from the Wisconsin Cancer Council,
o the 2007 Wisconsin Dental Association President's Award of Honor,
o the 2007 Independent Living Legislative Advocacy Award,
o the 2006 Gaylord Nelson Human Services Award from the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association,
o the 2006 Scales of Justice Award from the State Bar Association,
o the 2003 Phi Delta Kappa Education Award for Lay Contributor of the Year, and
o the 2003 Domestic Violence Diva Award from the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Jennifer, her husband Chris, and sons Nathan and Zachary reside in La Crosse where she is a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
