InfoBob Ellis was born in Augusta, Georgia. Members of his family were textile-mill workers. Growing up in humble surroundings, he developed a strong work ethic and met the challenges facing the less fortunate children of that era. He attended public schools and then went on to Augusta College and the University of Georgia. Bob had various jobs during school, including working for the College of Business while attending the University of Georgia. Such employment combined with student loans enabled him to complete his education.

Bob earned a Bachelors of Business Administration, a Masters of Business Administration, and later, a Masters in Education. He began his business career in banking in Atlanta, Georgia. He has held positions in commercial banking, mortgage banking, trading in the secondary market, and investment banking. Currently, as a business consultant, he assists executives in a number of private companies as well as state and federal institutions to improve their business practices. He is also an Adjunct Professor teaching Marketing and Management courses in the College of Business at Augusta State University.

Bob is a single parent who has a son who is a senior in college and a son who is a senior in high school. Bob has coached Recreational and Select Team Soccer in Columbia County.

Bob is a member of the Men's Club at the Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church. He has served as a board member on a number of civic and social organizations including ASU's Literacy Council and Kid's Restart, a charitable organization that helps troubled families.
