| Info | As a young man, he worked to overcome many challenges to become a college graduate, community advocate and restaurateur. While growing up, Rikki volunteered at Oliver Recreation Center, acted as a Baltimore City Police Explorer Candidate and served as Vice President of the Baltimore City Youth Council for two terms. At the age of 14, he started working at McDonald’s and received several promotions which led to him becoming a store manager at 18. While at McDonald’s and before he turned 25, Rikki rose through the ranks to become an area supervisor, training manager, Director of Operations and Vice President of Operations.
After developing leaders, increasing sales and profitability and becoming one of the highest-grossing leaders in McDonald’s, Rikki left and set out to become an entrepreneur. He started an entertainment and management company which focused on promoting musical artists and comedy shows that included artists like Rickey Smiley and Fantasia. Using this platform for new investments, Rikki opened a fun park and teen center, which became a local success.
At the age of 25, Mr. Vaughn received his GED and decided to attended college. He attended Hampton University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Following this achievement, Rikki received his MBA with a 3.87 GPA from the University of the Southwest. Rikki completed his first year of law school at Abraham Lincoln University School of Law. Currently, Rikki is working towards his PHD in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University.
Deciding to return to the restaurant industry as an owner, Rikki entered into several partnership agreements to own restaurants including Vaughn’s Taste of Soul, Checkers, Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, Ellen’s Café and Church’s Chicken. He used these accomplishments to create his own brand, Vaughn’s Restaurant Group and Vaughn Corporation (VaughnCo). Rikki is the former CEO of Burgerim, a national burger chain where he managed businesses in the United States, Dubai, Russia, Japan, Korea, Israel and Italy.
Rikki Vaughn has always had a passion for serving, and he is leveraging that passion into his bid for the Mayoral race for the city of Baltimore. His background and experience will enable him to serve as a voice for Baltimore City and our Country.
In his personal life, Rikki is married to Ellen Vaughn and the proud parent of a one-year-old son.
