Ms. Herbold is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Chemistry from Edgecliff College in Cincinnati. She holds a J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law of Northern Kentucky University.

Ms. Herbold began her career as an analytical chemist at the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration in Cincinnati, and later served as Chief of the Data Processing Unit in its Lake Erie Program Office. She was Associate Regional Counsel for the Cincinnati Real Estate Investment Office of the Prudential Insurance of America from 1979 to 1988, Vice President and General Counsel of Bank One in Dayton, Ohio from 1988 to 1990 and an attorney with the law firm of Taft, Stettinius & Hollister in Cincinnati from 1990 through 1994. Ms. Herbold served as a Council member and Mayor of Montgomery, Ohio from 1983 to 1987.

After moving to Bellevue, Washington in 1995, Ms. Herbold served a gubernatorial appointment as a Commissioner on the Washington State Gambling Commission from 1997 to 2000. She served as Chairman of the King County (Washington) Republican Party from December 2002 to December 2004.

Other community activities include serving as a member of the President’s 21st Century Workforce Council, on the Boards of St. Joseph Orphanage of Cincinnati; Salmon P. Chase College of Law; the Seattle Art Museum; the Performing Arts Center Eastside in Bellevue; the Washington Policy Center; and Long Live the Kings, a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of wild salmon in the Pacific Northwest.

Ms. Herbold is married and has three children and five grandchildren.
