Info | State Representative Donald F. Humason, Jr. was elected on November 5, 2002 to represent the Fourth Hampden District, comprised entirely of the city of Westfield.
His freshmen colleagues elected him Secretary of their class on January 22, 2003.
Don serves on the Committees on Human Services & Elderly Affairs, Science and Technology, State Administration, and Homeland Security & Federal Affairs.
He is a Westfield homeowner, taxpayer, and life-long resident. He ran proudly on the slogan �I Love Westfield!� Don garnered over 8,100 votes (63% of the vote) in his first run for public office.
Don served as the Director of Legislative Affairs of the Executive Office of Health & Human Services in Boston from April 1999-August 2002.
From 1994-1999 he was the Chief of Staff to Westfield State Senator Mike Knapik. He served as the legislative aide to Representative Mike Knapik from 1991-1994. Prior to that, Don was employed as a Trial Court Security Officer at Westfield District Court and as a Respite Counselor at the Crisis and Transitional Respite of the Westfield Area Mental Health.
Don is a 1989 graduate of Westfield State College and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice, with minors in Spanish and psychology. He was a member of the Student Senate and Vice-President of his senior class.
Don graduated in 1985 from Westfield High School and was a member of the National Honor Society.
His community involvement includes: Board of Trustees and Friend of the Westfield Athenaeum, Singer, & stage manager of The Dan Kane Singers, Corporator of Discover Westfield Children�s Museum, Corporator and alumnus of Westfield State College, Chairman Ward 2 Westfield Republican City Committee, Member of Central Baptist Church, Westfield Sportsman�s Club, Westfield YMCA, Westfield River Watershed Association, Winding River Land Conservancy, Westfield Community Development Corporation, and Friends of Grandmother�s Garden.
The son of Westfield firefighter Donald F. Humason, Sr. and Highland Elementary School nurse Alberta Humason, Don resides on Noble Street in Westfield.
